Care Ministries

To seek ways to improve the ministry to the sick and homebound of our parish. To assist Father Philip in this ministry.

 Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

Father Ralph takes the sacraments to the sick, dying, and homebound.
Eucharistic ministers bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.

The Pastoral Care Committee and staff:

• hold a parish-wide Anointing of the Sick – 2x a year. 
• send greeting cards (birthday, sympathy, get well, wedding anniversary, the first anniversary of death) to parishioners. 
• send four booklet series on grief to those who have recently lost a loved one.

Prayer Shawls

• provide prayer shawls and prayer hearts to those who are grieving, ill, and dealing with difficult life situations.  
• We partner with the Spiritual Community of Lifers who are in custody at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville.  
• We donate items to St. Andre’ Bessette Parish, Portland, St. Joseph Family Shelter and Mission Benedict, Providence Benedictine Nursing Center, etc.
• We have an annual retreat for those in the prayer shawl ministry.

Other  Areas

• make visits to parishioners who are homebound and/or care facilities/hospitals.
• keep current the Pray for the Sick list in the weekly parish bulletin.
• provide in-service for Eucharistic Ministers and for volunteers who visit those in prison.
• provide listening sets for the homebound to hear Mass.
• maintain the prayer intention books in the church

The committee meets quarterly.
