Katie was raised in a small town similar to Mt. Angel before attending the University of Portland, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication, along with a minor in Catholic Studies and a certificate in International Studies. In her senior year of college, Katie felt the tug toward ministry, taking her in a completely different direction from the advertising career she had been working toward. Even while interning at a local Portland TV station, Katie couldn’t shake God’s call to serve Him. So, upon graduating, Katie joined a Young Adult Service Team prior to becoming a Youth and Young Adult Minister in Southern Oregon, where she also earned her master’s degree in Organizational Leadership as well as a ministry certificate through the Archdiocese of Portland. Katie’s been serving in youth ministry in some form or fashion ever since. She’s worked in youth ministry in Washington, Oregon, and Wisconsin, and has served on a few retreat teams. Katie has spent 10+ years in full-time youth ministry and has been in the Archdiocese of Portland since 2015. With all the places she’s been, Katie is admittedly terrible with names and faces, so if you see her around, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and say hello!
