Every Thursday except that last 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Parish Center
For older children and adults seeking Baptism, we offer an ongoing process of the formation called The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) This process is also appropriate for those who were baptized in another faith tradition and wish to become Catholic.
Full initiation into the Church occurs in stages and includes the celebration of the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. The initiation process is meant to respect the developmental nature of faith growth. It incorporates the catechetical and liturgical stages in a one or two-year process that allows the candidates to become sensitive to God’s invitation to love, to become familiar with the teaching of the Church, and to experience the community dimension of the Church. The members of St. Mary parish share this journey of faith through their prayer, witness, and companionship.
Children who have reached the catechetical age (usually the age of 7) are appropriate candidates for the RCIC process, which in our Parish we do with their parents if the parents are coming into the church or in a separate class as needed.
Participation in the RCIA process begins with our gathering some initial family information, followed by an interview with the candidate. Formal Classes begin in October.
