In the coming years the Archdiocese will be moving the age of Confirmation down to the 7th grade level. This will be taking effect in 23-24. This means that this year we will be honoring any student in our Youth Group program to be in and have this year be a preparatory year for Confirmation.
As part of the program, all students are required to attend a retreat for the first year. This is in order to help the youth experience and encounter God. This retreat will be announced later this year.
Confermation this year will be a later than usual. We will have Bishop Smith come for confirmation on SATURDAY MAY 27, at 10 am. We will be asking Youth to come one hour early.
Rehursal will be May 25 at 7 pm, please come with sponsor or with parent.
Attached on the other slides are the dress code for confermation.
It is in this spirit of fostering respect for each other and for sanctity of the Sacrament of Confirmation that we set forth a code of dress consistent with our culture’s view of modesty. Semi-formal, modest attire is appropriate to the solemn beauty of this occasion.
The liturgical color for Confirmation is red, to signify the Holy Spirit who confirmed the apostles on Pentecost and gave them courage to practice their faith. Catholics believe that the same Holy Spirit confirms us during the Sacrament of Confirmation and gives us the same gifts. Therefore it is suggested your child wear some red on this special day. For young men, it is traditional to wear a red tie. For young ladies, a red dress, a red sweater or other accent is suggested. White is also acceptable.
